Make America Great

by Gracine McFie

We’re here at the debate, watch the candidates come in,

Keep your eyes open wide we need someone that wins.

First comes the Senator from Kentucky you know,

He waves at the crowd as he walks down the row.

He stops at the end and stays standing there,

As applause from the crowd; rings forth through the air.

Then in over there from the left comes a man,

Wearing on his arm, a yellow wristband.

It’s the governor coming from New Jersey you see,

He wants to be President of the land of the free.

Again from the left here comes Governor Jeb,

He walks on the stage with a shake of his head,

Then following closely comes Senator Ted.

Ted Cruz is a man of a rather neat kind,

Debate is a thing that is right up his line;

And he’s incredibly smart he knows just what to do,

And how to respond to the media too!

In comes the man the media can’t stump,

Coming in on the left is Donald J. Trump!

He waves to the crowd, thumbs up with a smile,

His fans madly cheering: “Trump, Trump” all the while.

And here comes Ben Carson the retired MD,

And Rubio and Fiorina, former chief of HP.

Last of all comes John Kasich and we’re ready to start,

The candidates here will all take a part.

The first question goes to the great businessman,

The media features him as much as they can,

And they do it cause Trump gets their shows real good ratings,

But listen right now to what Trump is saying;

Cuz' the moment he finished the second he’s through,

The media will twist it, that’s just what they’ll do.

They’ll say, “He said this,” or, “He didn’t say that,”

And most of the time they mix up the facts!

So pay close attention and hear what he says,

The question moves on now we’re going to Jeb.

For awhile it seems Jeb was high in the polls,

But his numbers went down as other folks rose,

And now Jeb is ranking in 5th or 6th place,

A rather, low spot, in the presidential race.

We have many things to go over you see,

One of the topics is foreign policy.

Of all of the issues I think that Rand Paul,

Might know foreign policy the best of them all.

So we’ll go to him now, he’s really quite smart,

And I think that his message comes from his heart.

And now on we go to Governor Kasich,

Who seems to be always repeating the basics!

Like just who he is and why he will win,

And how he will balance the budget again.

But his time is all gone; we now need to move,

We’re going right now to Senator Cruz.

Ted Cruz wants to uphold the US constitution,

And keep it real strong without political pollution.

The constitution is the thing that gives us the right,

To bear arms, and speak freely, all day and all night;

And since these are some principals of our great nation,

You probably should give this some consideration.

And now Senator Rubio, he has the floor,

And when Rubio speaks he’s as smooth as before.

The things that he says and the questions he asks

Are coming most likely from his Super PACs.

These Super PACs give him the money he needs,

In exchange he must do what the Super PACs please.

So he talks for a while and says what he must,

So that all, Super PACs, in Rubio will trust.

There are more things to talk of; there are more things to say,

Carly Fiorina we are coming your way.

It seems several stories have floated around,

About how, Fiorina took HP to the ground.

And whether it’s true or whether it isn’t,

Would Carly be good as the next President?

She seems to think so, but I challenge you,

With her as the leader what would our country do?

Would things get better or worse, would it be good or bad,

If Fiorina was the President our country had?

And now on to the man Christopher Christie,

Who says he’s quite tough and also quite nifty.

But with Christie in office what could we expect?

I’m afraid he’s put Jersey in financial distress.

So yes, maybe he’s tough, and maybe he’s nifty,

But if he did that to one state, should we give him all fifty?

And last Dr. Carson, the humble MD,

This guy is amazing if you see what I mean.

Why separating babies that are joined at the head,

Isn’t something everyone does, truth be said.

But now tell me this; would you vote for Ben?

Somehow I just don’t see how he could win.

And now friends it’s time that we give careful thought,

About who we want and whom we do not.

Choose it with care your vote does hold weight,

So come on, together we’ll make America great!
